Hydrogen is a next-generation clean energy source that does not emit carbon dioxide, and we believe that demand for it will increase in the future. A hydrogen supply chain that “produces,” “stores,” “transports,” and "uses” hydrogen needs to be created to stably transport large volumes of hydrogen and to create electricity in each region and field of use, so that everyone can use hydrogen in the future.
As part of the NTT Group’s efforts, NTT Anode Energy and the Panasonic Group will sponsor the "Green Expo”, which is an effort to showcase the society of the future at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai in line with its theme of “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” In order to achieve carbon neutrality in Japan by 2050, NTT Anode Energy is promoting the NTT Group’s environmental energy vision entitled "NTT Green Innovation toward 2040.” Panasonic is promoting its long-term environmental vision entitled "Panasonic GREEN IMPACT.” The two companies are working together to further expand the use of renewable energy and help achieve carbon neutrality through the implementation of a hydrogen supply chain at the NTT Pavilion and the Panasonic Group Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
In particular, NTT Anode Energy will capitalize on its forte in the entire process of energy distribution to implement steps from “creation” of the hydrogen supply chain to hydrogen “delivery” at the NTT Pavilion. Green hydrogen is generated from sources such as solar power and is supplied to the Panasonic Group Pavilion, approximately 200 meters away, through a pipeline that uses underground telecommunications pipelines. Panasonic will demonstrate its know-how in using hydrogen that it has gained over the years. At both pavilions, Panasonic will generate electricity with pure hydrogen fuel cells (made by Panasonic) and implement the “use” of hydrogen.
