Use of Camera Footage at
the NTT Pavilion

To allow visitors to safely enjoy
experiences that offer a glimpse
into the future, the NTT Pavilion is
equipped with cameras for
recording and AI-based analysis.

Purpose and Method of Camera Footage Use

Pavilion Perimeter

  • ・16 security cameras are installed around the Pavilion.
  • ・By analyzing visitor behavior, these cameras help ensure smooth and safe operations.
  • ・AI analysis of footage estimates the number of visitors and monitors congestion levels, which helps adjust staff allocation.
  • ・The AI also estimates posture from skeletal data to detect visitors who may be feeling unwell and alerts staff when assistance may be needed.

Inside ZONE2

  • ・Five analytical cameras are installed in ZONE2.
  • ・Visitors’ facial expressions are analyzed and used to influence the movement of the fabric surrounding the Pavilion, creating an effect where emotions are expressed visually through the fabric’s motion.
  • ・Facial expressions are determined by detecting and analyzing the faces of visitors captured by the analytical cameras.

Inside ZONE3

  • ・Three scanning cameras are installed in ZONE3.
  • ・Visitors are scanned (as still images), and their digital avatars are projected onto the wall inside ZONE3, where they appear to sing.
  • ・AI adds mouth movements and full-body motions to make it appear as if the avatars are singing and dancing.
  • ・AI also estimates attributes such as age group and gender from the scan and synthesizes a singing voice accordingly.

In Front of Signage

  • ・One analytical camera is installed in front of the signage.
  • ・It counts how many people are standing in front of it and adjusts the signage content accordingly, creating a more engaging experience.

Privacy Considerations

  • ・Recorded video data is stored for security purposes, but any data used for estimation or analysis related to the experience is immediately deleted after processing. In either case, individuals cannot be identified from the footage.
  • ・Captured data is used only for NTT Pavilion performance and operational efficiency. It will not be shared with third parties.
  • ・Only camera footage is captured—no other information (such as audio) is recorded.
  • ・If you would prefer not to be filmed, please avoid the Pavilion perimeter and the area in front of the signage.
