The NTT Group is working on two fronts to reduce CO2 emissions on the basis of the slogan, "Connect. That's Eco." The first front is to reduce the CO2 emissions of society as a whole through services provided by the NTT Group. The second is to reduce the CO2 emitted in the NTT Group's business activities.
"Green NTT" is our policy for promoting the generation and utilization of renewable energy, particularly solar energy, with the aim of reducing the CO2 emissions caused by the NTT Group's business activities. The NTT Group is committed to reducing greenhouse gases and contributing to the sustainable development of our society through the groupwide promotion of "Green NTT."
Most of the CO2 emitted through the NTT Group's business activities is from the use of electricity. To date, we have actively engaged in energy conservation through our Total Power Revolution (TPR) initiative.
To further reduce our impact on the global environment, the NTT Group promoted energy creation through the active utilization of power systems exploiting natural energy, mainly solar energy, with the aim of expanding our total power system capacity to 5 megawatts by fiscal 2012.
As a result, our total power system capacity grew to 5.1 megawatts by the end of fiscal 2012, attaining our initial goal.

To promote the "Green NTT" initiative, the NTT Group established the "NTT-Green Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)" in August 2008.
One of the roles of the LLP is to promote the effective installation of solar energy systems in laboratories, office buildings, and other real estate properties owned by various companies of the NTT Group. Group companies which cannot secure locations for installing solar energy systems are not excluded from investing and participating in the LLP; by installing solar facilities jointly with other companies, they can also contribute to environmental conservation.
Another role of the LLP is the issuing of "Green Power Certificates (*1)." With the approval of the Green Energy Certification Center (*2), the LLP issues Green Power Certificates to investing companies according to the amount of power generated by the equipment installed and in line with the amount invested.
Outline of "NTT-Green LLP"
In the future, we plan to expand our Green NTT program of renewable energy utilization to organizations outside the NTT Group.
By having not only NTT Group companies but also municipalities, other corporations, and other entities invest, participate, and provide space for the LLP, it will become possible to install bigger and more efficient solar panels and other facilities for renewable power generation. In this way, we plan to continue expanding the use of solar and other forms of renewable energy.
