Publication of "NTT IOWN Technology Report 2023
~Acceleration to the Future~"

On November 22, 2023 - NTT Corporation (NTT) released "NTT IOWN Technology Report 2023 ~ Acceleration to the Future~", which outlines technology that will enable IOWN to solve various social issues and achieve sustainable development.
In March of this year, APN IOWN1.0 began service development, and we are about to move from concept to realization. In this fiscal year, the key words of "light" and "AI" will be used to explain updates to the component technologies that make up IOWN and the status of AI utilization that is deeply related to IOWN. In addition, in 2030, when these technologies developed and IOWN became more popular, we will discuss how data centers will be changed by IOWN, how medical care and communication will be changed by LLM supported by IOWN, and so on.
NTT will promote innovative research and development to surmount various global challenges and create a smart society.

*1IOWN (Innovative Optical and Wireless Network) is a communication platform for the future that utilizes the latest optical and information processing technologies to realize a smart world.

In this report, we will review the formation of the IOWN concept, introduce the status of initiatives that are moving into the realization phase, and introduce the status of initiatives to utilize AI, which is closely related to IOWN. We will focus on the two pillars that support IOWN: the All-Photonics Network (APN) and photonics-electronics convergence devices. In addition, in 2030, when these technologies developed and IOWN became more popular, we will discuss how IOWN will change the data center and what services and solutions will be realized, and how IOWN-supported LLM will change healthcare and communication and change people's lives. Finally, we introduce Digital Twin Computing (DTC), which is being implemented as value creation using IOWN.
