TOKYO - October 31, 2024 - NTT Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; Representative Member of the Board and President: Akira Shimada; hereinafter "NTT") released "NTT IOWN Technology Report 2024 ~ INTEGRAL: Building a Sustainable Future ~", which outlines technology that will enable IOWN1 to solve various social issues and achieve sustainable development.
Since the announcement of IOWN vision in 2019, we have been steadily advancing the research, development, and deployment of the technology to realize it. In this fiscal year, we focus on four ongoing IOWN projects that can significantly contribute to the industrial sector: overseas data centers, DCI implementation at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan Pavilion, remote factory maintenance and inspection, and Photonics-Electronics Convergence devices. We will share the ongoing transformations happening on the ground. Additionally, we envision the potential of IOWN for future urban development through discussions with experts.
NTT will promote innovative research and development to surmount various global challenges and create a smart society.
In a world experiencing various changes such as the emergence of generative AI and business transformation due to the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI), the sharp increase in power consumption due to the exponential growth of data, and the issue of labor shortages, NTT is continuously promoting innovative research and development to break through the current situation and move towards a prosperous future with a new relationship between the Earth and humanity, solving various social issues, and achieving sustainable development.
In this report, we will introduce the status and future vision of the IOWN project. We will highlight four ongoing IOWN projects that can significantly contribute to the industrial sector: overseas data centers, DCI implementation at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan Pavilion, remote factory maintenance and inspection, and Photonics-Electronics Convergence devices. Through on-site coverage, we will vividly convey the key innovations of each project. Additionally, as a guest, we will welcome Seiichi Saito, who has long explored the potential of technology in urban development as the head of Panoramatiks. Together with NTT Group members, we will envision how urban development will change and what services and solutions will be realized in the near future as IOWN becomes more widespread.
