Mitsuaki Akiyama received the best paper award at EuroUSEC 2021

Mitsuaki Akiyama (senior distinguished researcher) at NTT Social Informatics Laboratories of Service Innovation Laboratory Group received the best paper award at European Symposium on Usable Security (EuroUSEC) 2021.

EuroUSEC is an international academic conference in the fields of usable privacy and security. At EuroUSEC 2021, the acceptance rate was 24% (15/62).

His paper, "Careless Participants Are Essential For Our Phishing Study: Understanding the Impact of Screening Methods" obtained the results that the adoption of the screening methods trigger bias in the demographics of the participants, as well as differences in the results of phishing email detection performance. These results indicate the need for researchers to be extra cautious when applying screening methods in phishing studies.

NTT Social Informatics laboratories will continue to promote the safe and secure society through R&D activities in security, privacy, and human factors.
