NTT GROUP RECOGNIZED IN CDP 2014 FOR LEADING COMPANY ON CLIMATE CHANGE INFORMATION DISCLOSURE AND PERFORMANCE

NTT Group was recognized as one of the best companies in Japan for climate change information disclosure and performance by the CDP*1. NTT Group has been listed as one of the companies of both Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) and Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI).

Selection to the CDLI is the second consecutive year. To CPLI, NTT Group was selected for the first time from the telecommunications company in Japan.

This is an indication of the high regard for the NTT Group's efforts in environmental risk management and ICT utilization for the reduction of greenhouse gases.

The achievement was announced on Wednesday October 15, 2014 in the CDP Japan 500 Climate Change Report 2014.

NTT Group has achieved a position in CDP's Japan 500 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) for two consecutive years. Besides, this year NTT Group has been selected for the first time from the telecommunications company in Japan to CDP's Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI). This annual index evaluates the constituent companies within the large Japanese 500 leading companies in the FTSE Japan Index (Japan 500).

The companies achieving a disclosure score within the top 10% of the respondents are selected to CDLI. In 2014 the Japan 500 CDLI comprises 28 companies achieving the disclosure score of 97 or more. For the CPLI, 24 companies with the highest rating "A" in the performance band is selected.

NTT Group was given a Disclosure Score of 97 and Performance Band of "A" in CDP 2014.

The NTT Group is focusing our efforts for the environment protection under THE GREEN VISION 2020. One of the themes is "creating a low carbon society", which we are promoting through three approaches: "Green of ICT" refers to efforts to reduce the environmental impacts of our own business activities. "Green by ICT" refers to our efforts to reduce CO2 emissions across society by applying ICT services. "Green with Team NTT" refers to efforts by group employees and their families to work with local communities to help protect the environment.

In accordance with the themes and actions on THE GREEN VISION 2020, we have promoted efforts to reduce the environmental impact by providing the ICT services as well as to provide it as a business. The disclosing the greenhouse gas emissions of all categories in Scope 3*2 for the first time as a telecommunications company in Japan, was also further promote efforts of climate change information disclosure.

High evaluation of these activities led to that NTT Group has listed as one of excellent companies in both the climate change information disclosure and performance.

Going forward, the NTT Group continues to promote efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to the realization of a sustainable society.
