Cognitive Foundation® (CF) is one of the major technical fields that make up IOWN. It aims to optimize the deployment and configuration of users' ICT resources*1 in addition to cloud and network services. In other words, it aims to achieve centralized configuration, configuration, management, and operation.
Conventionally, these ICT resources have been siloed by application and solution, requiring lifecycle management such as individual deployment and configuration optimization. In recent years, the lifecycle management of ICT resources has been continuing and becoming more complex, as seen in the increasing number of use cases requiring advanced distributed collaboration in edge computing and hybrid clouds. This has placed a heavy burden on Center B, which provides social systems, to focus on developing and providing applications and solutions.
The Cognitive Foundation® initiative will enable Center B to focus on its core business by quickly deploying and optimizing the configuration of ICT resources in a multi-domain*2, multi-layer*3, multi-service vendor environment, as well as fully automating, autonomous, and self-evolving
*1 ICT resources: Multi-domain, multi-layer computing resources that support applications and solutions provided by Center B. Including the CPU/GPU and memory that make up the various services.
*2 Multi-domain: Physically distributed locations such as cloud services, own/other data centers, network edges, and server locations.
*3 Multilayer: In addition to virtualized ICT resources such as IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), and SDN (Software Defined Network) located in overlay solutions, wired and wireless network services and supporting transport networks.
