We utilize ICT for "optimal breeding" of cattle in a natural environment.

NTT West collaborates with Kyushu University in running verification tests of ICT utilization in the breeding of free-ranging cattle. We are verifying the utility of the system in alleviating the workload on livestock farmers, such as by using sensors and cameras attached to cattle to achieve optimal ranging on large parcels of land.

If the use of ICT opens the way toward free-range breeding of cattle, we can look forward to more biodiversity benefits such as reduction of pesticide- and fertilizer-heavy feed, and natural processing of manure.
