Establishment of NTT Anode Energy

In June 2019, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (headquartered in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; Jun Sawada, President & CEO; hereinafter referred to as "NTT") is going to establish NTT Anode Energy Corporation a company for the promotion of new business in "smart energy" which it announced on March 27, 2019.

The NTT Group is pursuing the business in "smart energy" in keeping with its agenda of business creation drawing on its human resources, technology, and assets, and achievement of sustained growth over the medium and long terms. It has posted the goal of doubling its sales in energy-related business in the Group as a whole to the order of 600 billion yen by fiscal 2025.

Toward the launch and establishment of "smart energy" business, NTT is going to establish NTT Anode Energy Corporation as a member of the NTT Group in June 2019 and initiate preparations for that company's start of operations. At the same time, it will build a setup enabling prompt provision of new services while optimizing service development, provision, and operation resources among concerned Group companies.

Under the new organization driven by the company promoting energy business, the NTT Group will pursue business in the three domains of power generation, transmission ⁄ distribution ⁄ storage, and retailing ⁄ wholesaling in addition to the existing approaches led by NTT Facilities, Ennet, and NTT Smile Energy. Through this business, it will take aim at higher competitiveness and expanded earnings in its energy business.
