Mr. Seizo Onoe, former Chief Standardization Strategy Officer (CSSO) of NTT, and the incumbent director of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, is to be awarded the 2025 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Jagadish Chandra Bose Medal in Wireless Communications.
The IEEE Jagadish Chandra Bose Medal in Wireless Communications is one of twenty-one IEEE Medals awarded in different fields, under the rubric of the IEEE Medal of Honor. This medal will be awarded annually, beginning in 2025, to individuals who have made important contributions to the field of wireless communications technologies that have had a global impact. Mr. Onoe will be the first commemorative recipient of this medal.
The award of this medal recognizes his contributions to leading R&D and international standardization of third-generation (3G) and fourth-generation (4G) cellular systems, as well as facilitating their deployment around the world.
