The Grand Prizes for the 9th NTT Group Sustainability Conferences have been determined
There are also General Vote Awards determined through online voting!

The Sustainability Conferences are held annually, with this year marking the ninth installment. As everyone is aware, the Conferences are a place to introduce and share initiatives conducted by NTT Group companies in Japan and around the world that contribute to a sustainable society, and serve as an event to promote awareness of the NTT Group's sustainability management as something that each employee is responsible for. The results of the "9th NTT Group Sustainability Conferences," which were held online from February 15 to March 15, were announced the other day. (Last year's article "8th NTT Group Sustainability Conferences Held Online from February 15" can be found here
The Grand Prizes for the CSV category and Social Contribution category were determined by the judges. We also created a General Vote Award determined by online voting to recognize initiatives that had garnered considerable support.

Overcoming regional transportation challenges with AI-operated buses

Initiative overview
AI-operated buses refers to a vehicle dispatching system which supports demand-based transportation. The AI system performs the optimal vehicle dispatching in real time based on bookings from users, and provides operation instructions to vehicles. This enables users to move about without being restricted by timetables or bus lines, and makes it possible to operate the buses efficiently. Additionally, the system can also provide information on things such as regional facilities, shops, and coupons, which contributes to the revitalization of the area by generating new demand for transportation as well as encouraging people to go out to more places. Stemming from these AI-operated buses, we aim to develop and accelerate efforts for multimodal MaaS and self-driving in order to overcome various social issues related to transportation and mobility.

Smart fisheries industry through "frontlines perspectives"

Initiative overview
The "ICT buoy" was created together with fishermen as a result of interactions with seaweed and oyster farmers in the Sanriku region. These efforts started through reconstruction assistance following the Great East Japan Earthquake. The initiative made it possible for fishermen to easily check ocean conditions at any time via a smartphone, and contributed to a leap in production efficiency. Recently, we began a proof-of-concept for advanced smart aquaculture in fish farming (e.g., measuring fish length, optimizing feeding rate). We are making efforts together with our partners to raise the profitability of aquaculture management. We are always aware of "frontline perspectives." We aim to realize "sustainable and hopeful community development (regional development)," using ICT to energize fisheries locations.
