Three Grand Prize MVP winners chosen from 169 entries!

The NTT Group promotes initiatives aimed at supporting new value creation and the achievement of a global sustainable society, and, to recognize the advanced initiatives of each company, we held the NTT Group Sustainability Conference for the 12th time this year.
The entries consisted of a record-high 169 entries, and, at the award ceremony held at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo on May 21, 2025, we recognized five Grand Prize Measures and five Excellence Award measures, and three MVP measures were selected from among the Grand Prize winners.

Realizing the Battery Traceability Platform

NTT DATA Group

The first use case under the Ouranos Ecosystem proposed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is the NTT DATA Group's battery traceability platform commercial service.

This platform achieves the aggregation of carbon-footprint information in the supply chain related to batteries for electric vehicles--a new business in the automotive industry--as well as the visualization of recycling, reuse, and other information in the value chain.

MeetZero water credits

NTT DATA EUROPE & LATAM

Through MeetZero, NTT DATA EUROPE & LATAM pursued the first initiatives aimed at creating a voluntary water-credit market in Spain by enabling water-credit monitoring, certification, and issuance.

A circular society via fully-local energy

NTT EAST

In Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture, NTT EAST used a closed elementary school as its site for launching the operation of a woody-biomass combined heat and power generator (which took advantage of unused wood) and utilized the excess heat energy for mushroom-bed cultivation and dried-food manufacturing. NTT EAST is establishing a greenhouse horticulture system that does not use fossil fuels.

Fishnet Vision: Improving biodiversity through AI

NTT DATA Portugal

Dams play an important role in terms of shifting to renewable energy by generating clean hydroelectric power while conserving ecosystems. NTT DATA Portugal has developed an AI-driven computer vision model for automatically analyzing dam-camera video footage as well as identifying and classifying fish and driftwood, thereby increasing the efficiency of biodiversity monitoring.

"Morikachi": Carbon credits to protect forests

NTT Communications

This platform comprehensively supports the creation, assessment, and trading of forest-derived J-Credits.

NTT Communications is the first Japanese company to provide a GIS (geographic information system) function to forest-credit creators, certification bodies, and purchasers. This increases the efficiency of the issuance process and the reliability of credits, and our aim is to help achieve a sustainable society through the creation of forest credits and the revitalization of distribution as well as regional development.

NTT DATA Business Solutions - Denmark

NTT DATA Business Solutions - Denmark has developed virtual humans for healthcare through AI and LLM technology. The company conducted a demonstration experiment covering chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at the COPD clinic of Region Zealand, a public Danish medical institution.

Demand response via mobile phone cell sites

NTT DOCOMO

Docomo has set up disaster-response storage batteries at cell sites and Docomo Shops. In addition, in response to demand-adjustment requests from power companies, the company uses its energy management system (EMS) platform to control the charging and discharging of its storage batteries based on its optimal charging and discharging plan, thereby achieving DR. By implementing DR, Docomo contributes to both the reduction of demand when there are power shortages as well as the creation of demand when controlling renewable energy output.

Combating Wildlife Crime Through Technology

NTT DATA Information Processing Services Pvt Ltd

NTT DATA Information Processing Services has established a cloud-based system for managing important information in real time. The company has introduced its HAWK system in two Indian states and uses it to address the worldwide problem of illegal wildlife trading, which is a threat to the protection of wildlife. By monitoring forest crime and integrating data related to the death of wildlife and criminal activities, the company is able to take the initiative against criminal organizations targeting high-value wildlife products.

A generative AI-based D&I promotion tool

NTT Business Solutions

Unconscious bias is one issue that stands in the way of D&I. To combat such bias by utilizing generative AI, NTT Business Solutions has released the tool karafuru AI. This tool handles a variety of one-on-one workplace situations by giving users the ability to train with numerous AI partners, thus modifying their behavior. This tool is based on familiar examples, which helps users see their personal relevance, and, because each session can take as little as five minutes, the tool enables ongoing efficient training without imposing too much a burden on trainees.

CDS System in Adolescent Mental Health

NTT DATA Chile

In Chile, 16.5% of adolescents have a mental illness. In response, NTT DATA Chile is using its clinical decision support (CDS) system, which is focused on the mental health of adolescents, to provide psychological first aid in the form of chat sessions.
