A circular society via fully-local energy

NTT EAST

In Shibukawa, Gunma, NTT EAST has established a “regional recycling model” that combines: the local production for local consumption of energy; ICT to develop next-generation horticulture; the re-use of raw materials and waste. Moreover, our recycling model utilizes diverse unused resources — such as small-scale woody biomass — to help create a circular economy.
Specifically, we have designed a fossil fuel–free horticultural system, where the surplus heat is used to cultivate mushroom beds and dry foods.
