The excess heat generated from IT systems within a data center can be reused by exporting it to an external offtaker - a perfect example for circularity!
NTT GDC provides up to 1MW of carbon-free heating capacity from the Frankfurt 4 data center to serve over 600 households which is expected to save 570tCO2e annually within the local heating grid. Additionally, NTT GDC will be providing up to 8MW from the Berlin 1 data center to serve up to 10,000 people with expected savings of 6,000tCO2e.
