Promoting Decarbonization and Biodiversity
NTT Comware utilizes the expertise in AI technology that we have developed over many years to work towards achieving nature positive outcomes for the maintenance and restoration of biodiversity. In this initiative, we will support coexistence with birds to promote wind power generation, which is essential for decarbonization. By utilizing radar and cameras, NTT Comware aims to develop an AI-based bird detection system to address challenges and ensure business operations that coexist harmoniously with the natural environment. -
A generative AI–based D&I promotion tool
One factor hindering D&I is “unconscious bias.” In July 2024, we released “karafuru AI,” a generative AI tool that counters unconscious biases. By training with an AI partner in various 1-on-1 workplace scenarios, users are compelled to change their behavior. Training material can be personally customized, and users can begin with 5 minutes per session, allowing for consistent and efficient training. We support the promotion of D&I in organizations through behavioral changes in every one of us. -
Making sports sustainable!
As climate change has begun to significantly impact sports, the Urayasu D-Rocks aim to contribute to a sustainable society by creating a team-based initiative that ensures future generations can forever enjoy the rugby that we love. Partnering with companies such as NTT DOCOMO, NTT Communications, and Japan Airlines, we are developing measures related to nature-positive and circular economies, including the visualization of GHG emissions from team activities, a first for a Japanese sports team. -
Developing Osaka Castle–Naniwa Palace area with nature & history
The NTT Urban Solutions Group is developing a luxury hotel at the former headquarters of NTT WEST, and a Park-PFI project at Naniwa Palace Site Park. The hotel site features rich greenery, terraces, and waterfront spaces that blend in with the greenery of Osaka Castle and Naniwa Palace Site Park. Accommodation facilities that bolster global competitiveness will also occupy the area, alongside a park that preserves the history of Naniwa-no-Miya Palace Remains, contributing to an area bustling with both tourism and culture. -
Developing Next-Generation IT Human Resources
Japan's labor shortage is expected to worsen. In particular, research predicts a shortage of up to 790,000 IT workers in 2030. NTT DATA has been focusing on the global development of IT personnel in order to realize a sustainable society. Specifically, NTT DATA has led initiatives such as “NTT DATA Academia,” a coding program for preschoolers and primary school students; “SENSEI Yononaka Gaku,” an IT program for middle school students; and STEM career support for female secondary school students. -
Supporting the Work-Care Balance of Business Caregivers
The number of business caregivers balancing work with taking care of their parents has been increasing, and this is causing people to take time off work or even abandon their careers. From the perspective of companies, this does not only risk reduced labor productivity, but also a loss of opportunities to utilize talent, especially among the senior population whose parents require care. It has become a social issue in our country, where the birthrate is declining and the population is aging. NTT DATA's Social Design Office has been working with various companies to provide services that combine the real and digital worlds, in order to help business caregivers balance work and care. -
Leveraging Mobility Data to Estimate Brain Health
We are developing an algorithm that detects dangerous driving and estimates drivers' brain health by combining driving data (speed, acceleration, etc.) obtained from GPS devices, with map and traffic data. Many drivers fail to notice symptoms of mild cognitive impairment and visit the hospital only after developing dementia. Therefore, by implementing this algorithm to notify drivers of their brain health, we can encourage behavioral change among drivers and contribute to a safe mobility society. -
A comforting society for seniors turning 100
NTT DATA has developed "Voista!", a voice-activated service for seniors, which will contribute to a healthy and peaceful society for the elderly. By providing a variety of services — e.g., voice interfaces with family members and eldercare facilities; communication functions with local government employees; linkage with smart home appliances; information distribution via voice; monitoring functions — NTT DATA is working to enrich lives and alleviate labor shortages in the social welfare field. -
Initiatives to Build a Regional Smart City
To resolve local issues facing Senboku New Town in Sakai City and create a prosperous town for its residents, four organizations — Nankai Electric Railway, Osaka Gas, NTT WEST, and Sakai City — established the SENBOKU Smart City Consortium (162 members) in June 2022. NTT WEST serves as the leader of the “Data Collaboration WG” and promotes “smart city development using ICT” as ONE NTT, an integrated entity of NTT Group companies. -
Relief programs for the 2024 Noto Earthquake
A major earthquake struck the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture on Jan 1, 2024. The earthquake caused cracks in the ground and landslides, damaging telecommunication facilities, collapsing utility poles, and forcing the suspension of communication services. In addition, there were also extensive damages to the infrastructure of the local residents' lives, including large-scale power outages and water outages that lasted for a long period of time. We worked together as NTT Group to restore communications in order to fulfill our mission of connecting people. We also developed various tech-based initiatives in order to accomplish a creative recovery of Noto and to ensure that residents of the affected areas felt safe and secure in their homes. -
For an inclusive world: supporting a para-athlete
Always cognizant of diversity and inclusion, we have been actively working to create an environment where disabled people can play an active role in our payments center. As part of our efforts to create a society where everyone can thrive, in April 2022, we hired para-swimmer Kouta Kubota as a symbolic employee. By having all employees cheer him on as he competed, while also carrying out his daily work duties, we were able to foster awareness for an inclusive society and grow as an organization. -
A “Clean Town” partnership with Shibuya Ward
Shibuya Ward is taking the lead nationwide by launching new measures to solve various urban social issues. In order to realize a local recycling-oriented society, we are aiming to implement a sustainability initiative, “Clean Town Shibuya,” that is comprised of the following two measures:1. A three-company agreement to remove graffiti from utility poles.2. A vending machine usage project.Each company hopes to further deepen these initiatives and horizontally expand them into other municipalities -
Promoting Kozushima's sustainable development
Our initiative aims for the sustainable and continuous development of Kozushima by “expanding the attractiveness” unique to the island, overcoming the geographical disadvantage of being isolated through the use of real and digital data, and “creating and expanding its related population.” -
Sustaining and Advancing the Legacy of Traditional Nishikigoi Industry
NTT East-Kanshinetsu, partnering with Niigata Prefecture and local breeders, is committed to revitalizing the Japanese Nishikigoi industry. We leverage AI and digital art to enhance aquaculture and create new markets. By engaging younger generations through social media, we ensure the legacy of this traditional art form for future generations. Through these initiatives, we contribute to the sustainable development of the koi industry and ensure the legacy of Japanese culture for future generations. -
A new way to learn: School in the metaverse
NTT EAST - Kanshinetsu Saitama Branch, in collaboration with Saitama City, is implementing "a new learning environment for absentee children using the Metaverse” as one of its community-based ICT solutions. Through this demonstration, we will help realize an education system in which no child is left behind, by enabling students to feel the presence of their classmates with similar concerns through a realistic 3D metaverse, and to learn together using avatar-based communication. -
A circular society via fully-local energy
In Shibukawa, Gunma, NTT EAST has established a “regional recycling model” that combines: the local production for local consumption of energy; ICT to develop next-generation horticulture; the re-use of raw materials and waste. Moreover, our recycling model utilizes diverse unused resources — such as small-scale woody biomass — to help create a circular economy. Specifically, we have designed a fossil fuel–free horticultural system, where the surplus heat is used to cultivate mushroom beds and dry foods. -
Realizing the Battery Traceability Platform
We launched the “Battery Traceability Platform” as a commercial service in May 2024. This platform enables the automotive industry to aggregate carbon footprint information across the supply chain for electric vehicle batteries and visualize recycling and reuse information across the value chain. The platform ensures safe and secure data exchange between companies while maintaining data sovereignty. We aim to expand this platform to other industries in the future. -
Business Co-Creation Keeps Family Ties among Aging Society
With rapid aging, by 2040, one in three seniors may have dementia or mild cognitive impairment (MCI). NTT Com aims for a society where fewer individuals, families and companies experience the anxiety dementia can cause and offers "Brain Health Check" to detect early signs of cognitive decline via phone. This project is part of "OPEN HUB for Smart World," a program solving complex social issues. In three years, OPEN HUB has created over 1,000 business projects for a sustainable society. -
"Morikachi": Carbon credits to protect forests
"Morikachi", created in collaboration with Sumitomo Forestry, is a platform that comprehensively supports the creation, assessment and trading of forest-derived J-Credits. By providing GIS (Geographic Information System) functions for the first time in Japan to forest-credit creators, certification bodies, and purchasers, and by improving the issuance process and reliability of credits via the creation and distribution of forest credits, we strive towards regional development and a sustainable society. -
AI services to keep you healthy in daily lives
To create a society where everyone can maintain and improve their health in daily lives, we have developed various AI services (frailty estimation AI, immunity estimation AI, brain health check AI, etc.) that estimate health conditions and lead to healthy behavior, by utilizing data passively obtained from widely-used smartphones. We have also developed and begun commercially offering a HealthTech platform that incorporates AI models. By linking this platform with APIs, we have enabled partner companies as well as our own to easily introduce the AI services. -
Demand response via mobile phone cell sites
Demand response (DR) adjusts the amount of electricity consumed on the demand side in order to balance electric supply and demand. DOCOMO achieves DR by controlling the charging and discharging of storage batteries from an energy management system (EMS) platform that formulates optimal charging plans in accordance with demand adjustment requests from power companies. Implementing DR helps reduce demand during periods of power shortages and creates demand during periods of renewable energy output control. -

Online medical check-ups for disaster relief
In response to the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, we designed a system that virtually linked doctors with evacuees. By approaching medical institutions as well as evacuation centers, online health consultations were made possible. In doing so, we maintained a medical care system that gave both doctors and patients a sense of security, while also sustaining local medical systems. Through this initiative, we were able to establish a system that can be relied upon in the future as disaster relief. -

DELPHI
Amidst urbanization and transport fragmentation, current systems struggle to integrate passenger and freight mobility. DELPHI aims to unify these sectors, developing a federated multimodal network that shares cross-sectoral data and traffic info securely. Utilizing advanced monitoring, AI/ML algorithms, and diverse transport modes, DELPHI targets efficient, hybrid mobility across ecosystems. Its approach will be tested in four distinct pilots for optimal interoperability and effectiveness. -

ClujID enables the digital transformation of Cluj-Napoca towards Society 5.0 by leveraging the coherent and functional biometric e-ID platform, resulting in a simplified and automated process of citizen engagements with the city's digital services. -
Decarbonizing Tech: Path to a Net Zero IT
NTT DATA guides organizations in crafting their IT decarbonization roadmap: from assessment to pinpointing high-impact areas, through continuous monitoring and optimization actions. Partnering with Chedza, a black-youth-owned tech business, we tackle loadshedding in a region where only 28% have electricity. With US$30,000 raised, we benefit 450 learners, enhancing education and promoting renewable energy. This initiative champions quality education, economic growth, and climate action, empowering the next generation to thrive sustainably. -
Period Dignity Drive
The Period Dignity Initiative, in partnership with Palesa Pads, addresses menstrual poverty in MEA. With 1 in 4 girls missing school monthly, our project provides sustainable, eco-friendly reusable pads. By empowering over 350 girls, we've added back 10,500 school days. Our initiative supports gender inclusion, education, and climate action, while empowering small businesses, females, and upskilling community members, reinforcing NTT DATA MEA's commitment to positive transformation. -
Fishnet Vision: Improving biodiversity through AI
Dams are pivotal to Portugal’s shift toward renewable energy, producing clean hydropower while preserving ecosystems. Our Client - EDP - integrates fish migration systems into its largest dams, safeguarding aquatic biodiversity. NTT DATA developed an AI-driven computer vision model to automatically analyze footage from dam cameras, identifying and classifying fish species and detritus. This innovation helps monitor biodiversity efficiently, driving sustainability within Portugal’s energy transition. -
Dataspace4Health
DS4H is an open healthcare data exchange ecosystem, focusing on innovation in medical treatments built on secure data sharing. It is led by our company and co-financed by the Luxembourg Ministry of Economy, as part of the national strategy based on EU regulations. It allows us to leverage AI for healthcare and research and addresses both business/patient needs by exploring the potential of data to develop new treatment options. -

Combating Wildlife Crime Through Technology
Hostile Activity Watch Kernel (HAWK) is a cloud-based, real-time critical information management system developed by the Wildlife Trust of India with financial support from NTT DATA. Implemented in 2 states across India, HAWK addresses the global issue of illegal wildlife trade, which is a threat to conservation. It monitors forest crimes, consolidates data on wildlife deaths and criminal activities to enable preemptive responses against syndicates targeting high-value wildlife products. -
Empowering youth and women with IT skills
NTT DATA, in partnership with Samarthanam Trust, supports a skill development program for over 100 youth and women, including 50% persons with disabilities. The initiative offers training in IT/ITES, BPO, digital literacy, and soft skills, enhancing employability through courses in computer fundamentals, digital security, MS Office, mobile technology, and spoken English. This inclusive program prepares participants for technology jobs, fostering equal opportunities and societal empowerment. -

Efficiency measures to reduce energy use
NTT GDC ensures that all our data centers (DC) adhere to stringent energy efficiency standards by deploying industry best practices and advanced technologies to enhance reliability and performance. To reduce energy consumption, we continuously implement energy efficiency measures in all DCs. Some of the latest measures include: Pressure Sensor Optimization, Setpoint Optimization, UPS Replacement and CRAH Valve Cleaning. Implementing these measures led to annual energy savings of 3.7GWh. -
Decarbonize DCs with Renewable Energy
NTT GDC aims to secure renewable energy (RE) at speed and scale to meet NTT DATA's net zero commitment in 2030 as well as client requirements. One aspect of our RE strategy is securing Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) locally and where possible, investing into new RE power plants to add more RE to the market. In FY23, ~290GWh RE were consumed from PPAs with another 1.4TWh already contracted to come online by FY26 and we are currently reviewing over 1TWh of PPAs globally to secure for the future. -
New Mobility (NeMo) at NTT DATA DACH
NTT DATA DACH set out to transform its mobility services offered to employees in order to present them with more sustainable ways to get to where they want to be. Each employee can put together their own mobility package to suit their individual needs: bike subscriptions, bike leasing, a wider range of electric cars, more office charging stations, car sharing and employer subsidized public transport country wide. CDS System in Adolescent Mental Health
Consulting to develop a digital clinical decision support system for adolescent mental health. It aims to implement a Psychological First Aid line through a chat with a CDS. In Chile, 16.5% of youth have mental disorders. The proposal includes asynchronous interaction and the use of NLP. The methodology features technologies like AWS Connect and Genesys Cloud, with an agile approach. The team consists of various experts. Deliverables include plans, reports, and testing. -

Digital humans within healthcare using AI/LLM technology - specifically for COPD (chronic lung disease). The COPD clinic of Region Zealand (public Danish healthcare organization) was involved with tests run with patients and nurses of the clinic. -
