Is food waste garbage? We take a recycling-oriented approach to food waste and CO₂ emissions. Local Food Waste Recycling Solutions, launched in 2019, is designed to be cheaper than the cost of waste disposal. Some 600 units have been installed inside and outside Japan, turning 200,000 tons of waste into fertilizer each year for farmers to use. We've also begun efforts to turn food waste into more valuable products, such as animal feed and fuel. Our goal is an environmentally-friendly economy.
